Teen Beginner Sewing



Learn the basics of sewing while creating useful items that you can make again and again. Participants will make a bag, cosmetic bag and will be able to choose their own project for the last two classes. (Pajama pants, shorts or a simple skirt.) Skills learned include:
*Reading a pattern
*How to cut fabric
*How to use a sewing machine
*How to insert a zipper and use basic stitches

We have machines you can use!
 


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Beginners aged 12-16
Requirements: Students can bring their own machine or use a classroom machine. A one-dollar fee for bobbin use will be charged. Basic sewing supplies: fabric scissors, pins or clips, seam ripper, matching thread Week one: SIMPLE BAG= 3/4 yard of fabric for the inside and 3/4 yard of coordinating fabric for the lining, thread to match. Week two: COSMETIC ZIPPER POUCH: 1/4 yard of fabric for the outside, and 1/4 yard of fabric for the inside, 1/4 yard of fusible fleece, 10" zipper and matching thread. Week three and four to be determined based on project chosen. Beginning sewing supply kit available for purchase. All purchases made for class receive a 10% discount.
