Beginning Sewing or Kids (Age 8-11)
Young students learn how to thread and use a sewing machine. Students are welcome to bring their own machine or borrow one of our machines that are perfect for beginning sewers. Material for all projects is included.
Class 1: Students will make a reading pillow with a pocket. Become familiar with a sewing machine, practice sewing straight lines and threading the machine. Students will learn to cut and sew a drawstring bag.
Class 2: Students will learn to cut and sew a drawstring bag.
Class 3: Create a zipper pouch for school supplies. Students will learn to use the iron, insert a zipper, quilt material and box corners.
Class 4: Participants will sew a reversible apron.
* Students will need a pair of scissors that will cut fabric, pins and clips; and a fabric marking pen. These can be purchased at Creative Threads.
*The minimum class enrollment is three students. If minimum enrollment is does not occur by Nov. 15, class will be cancelled and all money refunded.
